Laisne cards her first career hole-in-one on Friday.
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Junior Agathe Laisne turned in a one-under-par 70, including her first career hole-in-one, on Friday to lead the No. 1 Texas women's golf team on the opening day of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club.
The Longhorns are currently tied for third as a team after an opening round 294. Texas is seven strokes back of tournament leader and No. 7 Wake Forest [287, +3]. No. 12 UCLA is in second with an eight-over-par 292. No. 21 Auburn and No. 23 Baylor also are tied for third.
As a team, the Longhorns tied for the best scoring average on par-five holes [4.93, -1] and the second-best scoring average on par-three holes [3.00, E]. Texas totaled 55 pars, nine birdies and one eagle on the day.
LINEUP AT A GLANCE
- Laisne, in her third tournament of the season, fired a one-under-par 70 that puts her in second place individually after the opening round. Four of her seven rounds this year have come at par or better. Her 14 pars on the day led the Longhorns.
- Sophomore Hailee Cooper and junior Kaitlyn Papp are currently tied for 15th place with two-over-par 73s. Papp tied for the best scoring average of any golfer in the field on par-five holes [4.33, -2] and also had a team-best four birdies.
- Senior Emilee Hoffman is tied for 58th with a seven-over-par 78, while freshman Sophie Guo is tied for 72nd with a nine-over-par 80.
