Women's Golf's Papp advances to match play at U.S. Women's Amateur

ROCKVILLE, Md. – Senior Texas golfer Kaitlyn Papp has advanced to match play at the 120th U.S. Women's Amateur, played at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md.
Papp tied for 26th in stroke play with a three-over-par 147 [74-73]. She will face Florida senior Addie Baggarly in the round of 64, teeing off at 11 a.m. CT on Thursday.
Texas junior Hailee Cooper tied for 60th overall with a six-over-par 150 [74-76], but did not advance in the playoff. She was one of 15 players vying for six spots in match play. Freshman Bentley Cotton also missed the cut with a nine-over-par 153 [76-77].
Seven U.S. Women's Amateur Championships have been claimed by athletes attending the University of Texas. UT students Betty Jameson [1939, 1940] and Mary Lou Dill [1967] won the U.S. Women's Amateur prior to the university sponsoring a women's golf team. Longhorns' student-athletes Michiko Hattori [1985], Kelli Kuehne [1995, 1996] and Sophia Schubert [2017] have captured the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.
