No. 1 Volleyball sweeps TCU

AUSTIN, Texas – No. 1 Texas Volleyball defeated TCU in straight sets, 25-21, 25-20, 25-19, on Thursday at Gregory Gymnasium.
The Longhorns remained undefeated and improved to 14-0 this season.
Logan Eggleston led Texas with 15 kills, hitting .324 in the match, and added eight digs, three blocks and one assist. Skylar Fields was second on the team with nine kills.
Asjia O'Neal had a great all-around match with eight kills, four blocks, three digs, one ace and one assist. Brionne Butler led the team with five blocks and added four kills with a .500 hitting percentage.
Jhenna Gabriel dished out 25 assists and had two kills, five digs and one block assist. Nalani Iosia came up just shy of a double-double with 10 digs and nine assists. Melanie Parra led the team with 12 digs and three service aces.
Texas jumped out to a large lead in the first set, up 20-9 before having to hold off a late TCU rally to win it 25-21. Again in the second set, the Longhorns were up 23-15 and had to hold off the Horned Frogs for a 25-20 win.
The third set was close most of the way, with the teams tied 16-16 before the Longhorns pulled away with a 9-3 run to close out the match.
The Longhorns and Horned Frogs will square off again on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Gregory Gym.
