Cross Country takes on Big 12 Championships

AUSTIN, Texas – The Longhorns return to Stillwater, Okla., on Friday for a chance at a title at the Big 12 Cross Country Championships.
The men led by Haftu Knight and Yaseen Abdalla will get the action started at 10 a.m. on the 8K course with its highest ranking at No. 14 since 2013. Junior Beth Ramos and freshman Eva Jess will lead the women in the 6K race at 11 a.m.
Knight and Abdalla have gone one and two for the Horns for all three races this season, while Ramos has finished first in all three of her competitions for Texas this season. Jess continues to set personal-best times each and every race and will continue the momentum at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course.
The top 15 finishers from both the men's and women's races will be name to the All-Big 12 team.
On the men's side, Iowa State enters Friday's meet ranked No. 2 by the USTFCCCA, while host school Oklahoma State sits at No. 5. The women will also compete against No. 7 OSU, and No. 17 Iowa State.
Box assignments have been determined for the Championship and will be the same for both races: No. 1 Iowa State, No. 2 West Virginia (women only), No. 3 Texas Tech, No. 4 Kansas, No. 5 Baylor, No. 6 Oklahoma State, No. 7 Kansas State, No. 8 Oklahoma, No. 9 TCU and No. 10 Texas.
