Gomez and Ramos lead Cross Country at Big 12 Championships

STILLWATER, Okla. – Cruz Gomez and Beth Ramos lead the Longhorns on a windy Oklahoma State course at the Big 12 Cross Country Championships on Friday morning.
For the fourth year in a row, the No. 14 men's team posted a third-place finish with 77 points. Gomez finished 11th with his time of 24:30.5, helping Texas finish with five top-20 finishes.
Haftu Knight crossed the line two spots later in 13th with his time of 24:32.7, followed by freshman Rodger Rivera who finished at 24:45.3 inn 16th.
Gomez and Knight earned All-Big 12 Team honors after finishing in the top 15 of Friday's meet.
Crayton Carrozza and Yaseen Abdalla closed out the final top 20 positions with their times of 24:53.1 and 24:55.5, respectively.
Sophomore Yusuf Bizimana competed in his first 8K of the season, finishing 26th with a time of 25:33.4, while Samuel Bass closed in at 25:39.9. Abraham Avila-Martinez, Isaac Alonzo and Cole Lindhorst finished out the Longhorns final three competitors.
For the fourth time this season, Ramos finished the competition first for the Longhorns with her 19th-place finish in the women's 6K at 21:47.4. Alexa Rodriguez and Eva Jess closed out the top-30 competitors for Texas as Rodriguez finished 28th (22:26.7) and Jess at 30 (22:35.5).
Isabel Hebner finished just behind Jess in 31st at 22:39.9. Ava Peeples and Monica Hebner closed out the top 40 finishers for the Horns at 34 and 35, respectively.
Texas will travel to Waco, Texas, on Nov. 12 for the NCAA South Central Regionals at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course.
