No. 7 Women’s Golf tied for third after first round at The Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. — The No. 7 Texas Women's Golf team carded a 3-over-par 291 on Friday to stand in a tie for third place after the opening round of The Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall. Freshman Bohyun Park fired a 1-under-par 71 and is tied for seventh place in the individual standings after the first 18 holes.
The 18-team field at The Landfall Tradition includes six teams that are ranked in the updated Division I Muzuno WGCA Coaches Poll (Oct. 15), including No. 4 Virginia, No. 7 Texas, No. 8 South Carolina, No. 9 Michigan, No. 11 Wake Forest and No. 16 Florida State.
No. 9 Michigan tallied a 1-over-par 289 and holds a one-stroke cushion over No. 4 Virginia at 2-over-par 290. Texas is in a three-way tie for third at 3-over-par 291 with No. 8 South Carolina and Clemson.
South Carolina's Justine Fournand posted a 5-under-par 67 and owns a one-stroke advantage over Inja Fric of NC State at 4-under-par 68. Virginia's duo of Amanda Sambach and Jennifer Clearly are tied for third at 3-under-par 69.
The Landfall Tradition continues with 18 holes each on Saturday, Oct. 30 and Sunday, Oct. 31. Texas will be paired with Clemson and UCF for Saturday's second round, and tee times will begin at 8:15 a.m. CT (9:15 a.m. ET) from hole 1.
The Lineup
- Freshman Bohyun Park carded a 1-under-par 71 and is tied for seventh place in the individual standings. Park registered four birdies (No. 8, par-3; No. 9, par-4; No. 14, par-4; No. 16, par-3) during her round on Friday.
- Senior Sara Kouskova recorded an even-par 72 and is tied for 12th place. Kouskova tallied three birdies on Friday (No. 4, par-5; No. 5, par-4; No. 1, par-4).
- Junior Sophie Guo and graduate Brigitte Thibault each fired a 2-over-par 74 and are tied for 27th place.
- Sophomore Bentley Cotton is tied for 62nd after a 5-over-par 77.
