Notables:
DIFFERENT MONSTER: After a 131-36 route of New Orleans in their season opener, The Longhorns will face a far different animal in game No.2 of their 2021-22 schedule.
The Cardinal, led by hall of fame coach Tara Vanderveer, return four of five starters from their championship group from a season ago. Stanford is 1-0 to start the year after a 91-36 victory over Morgan State.
IMPRESSIVE DEBUTS: UT introduced at total eight to players to the court during their season-opening win over UNO including four Freshman. Aaliyah Moore and Rori Harmon drew starting nods while Kyndall Hunter and Latasha Lattimore saw significant playing time off of the bench.
Moore tallied nine points and five boards while Harmon posted seven points and dished out eight assists. Hunter dazzled in her first game in the burnt orange as she poured in a team-high 27 points and shot the lights out from distance going 7-of-8 from three point range. Lattimore scored 11 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting performance to go along with six rebounds.
Junior Mississippi State transfer Aliyah Matharu made her presence felt immediately as she racked up 18 points off the bench on an efficient 6-of-8 from the field. She also recorded five assists. Top JUCO transfer Kobe King-Hawea scored seven points in her first Division I action.
ON THE DOCKET: Following this weekends' trip to Palo Alto, the upcoming schedule doesn't get much lighter for the Longhorns. After a brief one-game home stand vs Southeast Missouri at the Frank Erwin Center on Wednesday (11 a.m.), UT travels to Knoxville next Sunday (12 p.m. CT) for another nonconference text at No.15/12 Tennessee.
