No. 2 Volleyball falls in NCAA Regional Final

The Longhorns’ season ends with a 27-2 record after advancing to the program’s 15th regional final in the last 16 seasons.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 2 Texas Volleyball fell in the NCAA Regional Final to No. 10 Nebraska, 3-1, on Saturday at Gregory Gymnasium.
The Longhorns end the season with a 27-2 record after advancing to the 15th Regional Final in the last 16 seasons. The attendance of 5,080 was the largest volleyball crowd in Gregory Gym history.
Logan Eggleston and Skylar Fields each finished with 20 kills to lead the Longhorns. Eggleston also had her 10th double-double of the season with 10 digs.
Senior Brionne Butler had eight blocks, while the Longhorns finished with 13 total blocks in the match. Fellow senior Sydney Petersen had four service aces and six digs.
Jhenna Gabriel had 24 assists, six digs and two blocks, while Saige Ka'aha'aina-Torres had 13 assists and two digs.
Nebraska used an 8-2 run midway through the first set to get out to a 17-10 lead and never look back. With the second set tied 11-11, Nebraska went on an 8-0 run to take a 19-11 lead and held on to grab a 2-0 lead in the match.
Texas weathered the storm in the third set to keep the match alive, using seven blocks and hitting .300 in the set to win it 25-23.
Nebraska went on another long scoring run in the fourth set to finish off the match with a 25-21 win.
Butler, Eggleston and Fields were named to the NCAA Austin Regional All-Tournament team.
