No. 2 Volleyball survives 3-2 against No. 15 Washington

The Longhorns pulled off a reverse sweep of the Huskies to advance to the Regional Final.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 2 Texas Volleyball pulled off a reverse sweep over No. 15 Washington, 19-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-9, 15-9, in the NCAA Regional Semifinal on Thursday night at Gregory Gymnasium.
The Longhorns (27-1) will play in the Austin Regional Final on Saturday at 9 p.m. against the winner of the match between No. 10 Nebraska and Illinois. This will be Texas' 15th NCAA Regional Final in the last 16 seasons.
Texas finished the match outhitting Washington .346 to .211 and out-blocking the Huskies 12-9. After hitting just .222 in the first set, the Longhorns picked it up in the second but still came up short. The fourth set was all Texas, as they hit .500 and held Washington to an -.036 hitting percentage.
Logan Eggleston led Texas with 20 kills, hitting .441 in the match. She recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 13 digs and added six blocks, one ace and one assist.
Skylar Fields was second on the team with 15 kills, including five kills in the third set to help rally the Longhorns. Molly Phillips had nine kills and hit .350 in the match.
Brionne Butler finished with nine kills and led Texas with a .471 hitting percentage to go with five blocks. Asjia O'Neal had seven kills and led the Longhorns with six blocks.
Jhenna Gabriel dished out 51 assists and came just short of a double-double with nine digs. She also added two kills and two blocks.
Sydney Petersen led Texas with 14 digs and one assist, while Nalani Iosia had 10 digs, seven assists and three service aces.
Washington had two long scoring runs in the opening sets to get out to a 2-0 lead. The third set was a dog fight, with the teams tied 21-all before the Longhorns closed it on a 4-1 run to keep the match alive.
Texas stormed out of the gates in the fourth set, going on a 9-0 run and never looking back, cruising to a 25-9 win to force a fifth set. In the fifth set, Texas sided-out at 100% and put the match away with a 15-9 win.
