No. 2 Volleyball beats No. 6 Baylor, 3-1

The Longhorns finished off the season sweep of the Bears, winning all four matchups during the 2020-21 season.
WACO, Texas – No. 2 Texas Volleyball finished off the season sweep of No. 6 Baylor, 25-18, 29-31, 30-28, 25-19, on Friday night at the Ferrell Center. The Longhorns (21-1) won all four matchups against the Bears during the 2020-21 season.
The win was Jerritt Elliott's 500th as Texas head coach in his 20th season at the helm. He holds a record of 500-106 at Texas and an overall head coach record of 550-118 in 22 seasons.
Logan Eggleston led Texas with 16 kills to go with six digs and on block. Skylar Fields added 12 kills and seven blocks and Melanie Parra finished with 10 kills, eight digs and a pair of aces.
Brionne Butler was yet again a dominant force, finishing with 12 total blocks and nine kills.
Jhenna Gabriel dished out 44 assists and had seven digs. Morgan O'Brien led Texas with 13 digs, one assist and one service ace.
Texas start the match strong and led for the majority of the first set, scoring the final four points of the set to take it, 25-18.
The second set was tightly contested and back-and-forth after the Longhorns rallied from down 17-11 midway through the set. Texas had set point on three occasions but were unable to finish it off and take a 2-0 lead. Baylor was able to hold on for a 31-29 second set win to even the match 1-1.
The third set was another wild one, with Texas coming out victorious, 30-28. It was close throughout the set and the Longhorns held off set point at 26-25 to keep it alive.
The fourth set was all Texas, as the Longhorns led nearly the entire way and held a 21-15 lead at one point.
The Longhorns will finish the regular season with a pair of matches at TCU on April 1-2, both scheduled for 1 PM on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
