No. 18 Women’s Golf in third after second round of NCAA Championship

Sophie Guo is tied for fifth at one-under-par heading into the third round.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The No. 18 Women's Golf team recorded an even-par 288 to close out the second round of the NCAA Championship in third place on Saturday at Grayhawk Golf Club.
Sophie Guo led Texas, carding a 2-under-par 70 to move into a tie for fifth at 1-under-par for the week.
Stanford leads the tournament at 7-under-par 569 (291-278), while Duke is in second place with a 3-under 573 (292-281).
With the Longhorns starting on the 10th tee, Guo made par or better on her first 13 holes of the day, carding birdies on the 13th, 14th and third holes. After a bogey on the fourth hole, the sophomore closed out her round making par on four consecutive holes.
Sara Kouskova matched Guo's 2-under 70 performance and is tied for 11th at even-par after two rounds of play. The junior began her afternoon with a birdie on 10 and par on the 11th hole. Following a bogey on 12, Kouskova reeled off eight-straight holes of par or better, including an eagle on 17 and a birdie on the first hole. She added a third birdie on the fourth hole.
Kaitlyn Papp is tied for 11th following a 2-over-par 74 outing the puts her at even-par for the week. Papp carded a Longhorn-high four birdies with three occurring on the back nine on the 12th, 14th and 18th holes. She added another on the seventh in a round that included nine pars.
Agathe Laisne also registered a 2-over 74 and is currently tied for 22nd at 2-over-par following day two. Laisne opened and closed her rounds with birdies on the 10th and ninth holes, respectively, while also collecting a birdie on the seventh hole. On the day, the senior made par on 10 holes.
Ashley Park shot a 3-over 75 today and is currently at 11-over-par in the tournament.
Saturday's round was the second of three rounds of stroke play in which all 24 teams will participate. The field will be cut to the top-15 teams for a fourth round of stroke play on Monday. The top-eight teams after 72 holes of stroke play will compete in a match-play format for the NCAA Championship beginning on Tuesday.
Texas is scheduled to tee off in the third round of the NCAA Championship with No. 8 Stanford and No. 3 Duke at 8:30 a.m. CT on Sunday. Live results will be available throughout the day on Golfstat.com.
