Campbell places sixth in Men’s 3-meter Springboard finals at Olympic Trials

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Former University of Texas diver Grayson Campbell recorded a sixth-place finish on Sunday evening in the finals of the Men's 3-meter Springboard competition at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Diving. UT freshman Noah Duperre completed his solid performance at the Trials, finishing in ninth place in the finals.
Only the top two finishers in the individual diving events at the U.S. Olympic Trials earn spots on the roster. Tyler Downs won the event with a total score of 1333.75 points, while Andrew Capobianco placed second (1319.40) to clinch their tickets to Tokyo. David Boudia, who entered Sunday's finals as the leader in the competition, registered a third-place showing with 1314.95 points.
Campbell entered the finals session in second place (874.20), as scores carried over from Wednesday's preliminary and semifinal rounds. His finals session was highlighted by a score of 72.85 on his opening dive, a forward 3 ½ somersault pike (107B), and a score of 72.00 on his second dive, a back 2 ½ somersault pike (205B).
Duperre, who entered Sunday's competition in 11th place, moved up two spots during the finals. His finals performance featured a score of 72.00 on his first dive, a back 2 ½ somersault pike (205B), and a score of 75.25 on his third dive, a reverse 1 ½ somersault 3 ½ twist free (5337D).
