Daniels, Team USA 4x100m relay win silver at Tokyo Olympics

Texas Ex Teahna Daniels and Team USA capture Olympic silver with second-place finish in the 4x100m relay.
TOKYO –Texas Track & Field great Teahna Daniels and Team USA won the silver medal in the women's 4x100m relay in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on Friday at Olympic Stadium.
Daniels ran the second leg of the relay, receiving the baton from Javianne Oliver before handing it to UT volunteer coach Jenna Prandini. Gabrielle Thomas closed at the relay with the United States in second in 41.45.
Jamaica captured the gold with a time of 41.02, while Great Britain finished with the bronze in 41.88.
Team USA's time of 41.45 is the third-fastest at the Olympic Games in the nation's history and sixth-fastest Olympic result ever. The United States has five of the nine best women's 4x100m times in Olympic history.
It is the third consecutive Olympics in which a Longhorn has won a medal in the women's 4x100m relay, with Daniels joining 2016 Rio gold medalist Morolake Akinosun and 2012 London gold medalist Bianca Knight. A Longhorn has medaled in the women's 4x100m in six of the last eight Olympic Games.
Daniels' silver is the second in track & field by a Longhorn in these games. Texas Ex Ryan Crouser won his second consecutive Olympic gold medal in the shot put on Thursday in record fashion, posting the top-five marks ever in the Olympic Games, including the second-longest toss in history at 23.30m, behind only his world record mark of 23.37m.
Rising senior Stacey Ann Williams will be competing in the women's 4x400m relay with Jamaica on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. CT.
