Track & Field opens 44 Farms Team Invitational with strong day one in College Station

Texas records four top-10 finishes in the discus and 200 meters at the 44 Farms Team Invitational.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – A small group of Longhorns opened competition for Texas Track & Field Friday at the 44 Farms Team Invitational at E.B. Cushing Stadium, highlighted by a trio of top-10 finishes and a personal-best performance in the men's discus.
Benjamin Shue led Texas in the discus, placing fourth with a lifetime-best throw of 55.74 meters (182-10). Shaiquan Dunn followed closely in fifth at 54.82 meters (179-10), while David Jarolimek added a seventh-place finish with a mark of 54.02 meters (177-3).
On the track, Logan Popelka paced the Longhorns in the men's 200 meters, finishing eighth in 20.93 seconds. Waly Bathily placed 12th in 21.06, and Sihle Mahlangu crossed in personal-best 21.45.
In the field, Jeanne Le Goff recorded a 12th-place finish in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.66 meters (18-7).
Competition concludes Saturday evening with Dunn and Shue set to compete in the men's shot put at 5 p.m., followed by Troy Mason in the men's 400 meters at 7:17 p.m.
