- Texas and Rice will be meeting Sunday for the seventh time overall with the Longhorns holding a 5-1-0 all-time series advantage. UT is 1-1-0 in Houston with the most recent meeting coming back on Aug. 17, 2018, a 3-0 Texas victory. Head Coach Angela Kelly is 3-0-0 against the Owls during her time on the Forty Acres.
- Texas' offense finally broke out on Thursday against New Mexico State as the Longhorns scored four first-half goals on the way to a 4-0 rout of the Aggies. Senior midfielder Julia Grosso and freshman midfielder Lexi Missimo each scored braces (two goals) to lead the charge. The occurrence marked the first time two different Longhorns both scored two goals in a single match since Grosso and Texas-Ex Haley Berg did so during the 8-0 rout of Grambling back on Sept. 22, 2019.
- Grosso's brace was the fourth of her career (vs. Kansas State – Oct. 21, 2018; vs. Grambling – Sept. 22, 2019; vs. Gonzaga – Aug. 22, 2019; vs. New Mexico State – Sept. 2, 2021) while Missimo's was the second of her brief career in the Burnt Orange & White (at Baylor – April 1, 2021; vs. New Mexico State – Sept. 2, 2021).
- Missimo now owns an impressive five career goals and 14 career points over her first seven collegiate matches after her career-high, five-point effort on Thursday against the Aggies (two goals, one assist).
- Freshman forward Trinity Byars registered her first two collegiate assists (and points), while freshman forward Tati Fung was credited with her initial career assist (and point) in the victory over New Mexico State.
- Julia Grosso usually makes her shots on goal count. Since the start of the 2019 season, Grosso has scored 15 goals on her last 40 shots on frame (38% shot efficiency).
- Texas enters Sunday needing just two more wins to reach 300 all-time program victories. The Longhorns overall record is currently 298-201-54 (.588).
- Five of Texas' eight 2021 signees played together for Solar SC (Byars, Missimo, EmJ Cox, Miller, Stanley) under head coach Derek Missimo (Lexi's dad), while McFarland, Nobles, Claros, Lapomarda, Sydney Cox and Pace are also previous Solar FC products. Tatiana Fung grew up playing alongside Missimo and Byars on teams in both California and Texas, while Holly Ward was part of the same Vancouver Whitecaps program that produced Grosso, Regan and Akindoju.
- The Longhorns have won 33 consecutive matches in which they scored two-or-more goals in a contest dating back to the start of the 2017 season. The last time Texas failed to win when tickling the twine on two occasions was in a 3-2 defeat at TCU back on Oct. 28, 2016.
- UT is 26-3-2 since the start of the 2018 season when scoring first in a match and is 1-0-1 in such contests in 2021.
