Longhorns Win Clemson Invite Men's 4x400 Relay

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Texas men's 4x400 relay team closed out the final day of the Clemson Invite registering the fourth-fastest time in program history at 3:05.21.
The team of Jonathan Jones, Matt Nortje, Willington Wright and Brian Herron led Texas to win the final event of the two-day meet. The Texas 'B' team of Jathan Belaire, Leo Neugebauer, Caleb Hulbin and Daniel Garland finished fifth with a time of 3:17.49.
The Longhorns began the day in three field events, sparked by All-American Tripp Piperi winning the men's shot put with a throw of 20.71m (67-11.50). Senior Jalil Brewer made his Texas debut with a third-place finish and a mark of 18.71m (61-4.75). Patrick Piperi and Neugebauer closed out the top-10 finishers.
The women also added three top-10 finishes in the shot put with sophomore Marilyn Nwora finishing fifth at 15.12m (49-7.25) and Kiana Lowery and Chrystal Herpin placing eighth and 10th, respectively.
Kristine Blazevica and Marleen Guerrero added top-10 finishes in the women's high jump as Blazevica finished fifth with a jump of 1.73m (5-8.0) and Guerrero in seventh at 1.70m (5-7.0).
Sophomore standout Rhasidat Adeleke finished second in the women's 300m dash with a blazing time of 36.87. Stacey Ann Williams finished just behind in third with a time of 36.95, while Kennedy Simon added a fourth-place finish at 37.22.
Nortje, Herron and Wright added top-10 finishes on the men's side with time of 33.38, 33.59 and 33.60, respectively.
Freshman Cole Lindhorst posted the second-fastest time 800m time in the NCAA this season with a winning time of 1:48.64. The time ranks as the No. 7 time on the Texas all-time list. Brendan Hebert finished second with a time of 1:50.37 that ranks as No. 9 on the NCAA list.
The women's 4x400 of Brooke Jaworski, Simon, Adeleke and Milan Young added a second-place finish at 3:36.18.
Texas travels to the Red Raider Open on Jan. 21 and the Fastrak Collegiate Challenge on Jan. 22 for its next competition.
