Track and Field wins six events at Red Raider Invite

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas track and field left the Red Raider Invite with six event wins and NCAA-leading times.
On the women's side, Julien Alfred made her indoor debut winning the 60m dash with a time of 7.12 seconds, a Texas Tech facility record and NCAA-leading time. Alfred holds the top time in Texas history at 7.10, a time she set back in 2020. Friday's time ranks as the No. 3 all-time performance in Texas history.
Kynnedy Flannel and Kevona Davis continued their hot starts to the season, taking the top two spots in the 200m dash. Flannel won her second event of the year with her time of 22.97, a new meet-record time, while Davis crossed the line at 23.20.
Kennedy Simon, Rhasidat Adeleke and Stacey Ann Williams took three of the top four times in the 400m. Simon led the Longhorns with a winning-time of 52.15, another meet record, while Adeleke came in at 52.61, followed by Williams just behind in 52.62.
Brooke Jaworski took the final track win on the women's side in the 800m with her meet-record time of 2:06.13. Valery Tobias posted a strong finish in second at 2:06.14.
Marilyn Nwora won the women's shot put with a personal-best mark of 16.07m (52'8"75), which moved her in to the no. 8 spot on the All-Time performer list.
For the men, Crayton Carrozza led the Longhorns to take the top four positions in the men's 800m with his meet-record time of 1:48.40. Carrozza's time ranks as the second-fastest time in the country this season. Yusuf Bizimana (1:48.75), Cole Lindhorst (1:48.55) and Brendan Hebert (1:50.37) all finished just behind.
Brian Herron finised fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 46.93, which ranks as the No. 8 time in the NCAA. Willington Wright and Matt Nortje closed out the final top 10 finishes in the event.
Charles Brockman opened his indoor season with a third-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.94, while Milan Young finished fifth on the women's side at 8.15 seconds.
Tripp Piperi won his second shot put event of the season with a meet-record mark of 20.99m. It's the second time this season Piperi was the lone competitor to break the 20 meter barrier. Jalil Brewer finished second with his throw of 19.57m, moving him into No. 7 on the NCAA Indoor list. Patrick Piperi added a fourth-place finish for Texas at 18.00m, a new personal-best throw.
Warren Miller finished fifth in the pole vault at 4.98m, while freshman Connor Boenig made his collegiate debut with a sixth-place finish and a personal-best mark at 4.98m.
