Alfred Named Big 12 Women's Track and Field Co-Athlete of the Week

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Julien Alfred was tabbed with Co-Big 12 Women's Track and Field athlete of the week after her opening weekend of competition of the 2022 indoor season.
The junior ran an NCAA-leading time of 7.12@ in the 60m final at the Red Raider Open, setting a new Texas Tech facility record in the process. Alfred also ran the fastest-qualifying time of 7.17 seconds that set a new meet record prior to the final.
Alfred's time ranks as the No. 3 time in the world this season and also sits at No. 3 on the Texas All-Time best performance. She also holds the Texas program record with a time of 7.10, a record she set in 2020.
The Longhorn shares this week's honor with Ackera Nugent from Baylor and Monae' Nichols of Texas Tech.
This is the second Big 12 Weekly honor the Longhorns earned this season after Tripp Piperi was named the Big 12 Men's Track and Field athlete of the week following the opening meet of the season.
