No. 2 Volleyball rallies past Kansas State

The Longhorns battled back after dropping the first set to beat the Wildcats in four sets.
MANHATTAN, Kan. – No. 2 Texas Volleyball rallied after dropping the first set to beat Kansas State, 23-25, 25-13, 25-16, 25-21, on Friday at Bramlage Coliseum.
The Longhorns (17-1, 9-1) shook off a slow start to hit .307 in the match and hold the Wildcats to a .152 hitting percentage.
Texas head coach Jerritt Elliott picked up his 600th career victory in the match, upping his career record to 600-122 in 24 seasons and 550-110 in his 22nd season at Texas.
Logan Eggleston had her first double-double of the season with 17 kills and 12 digs, while Madisen Skinner shared the team lead with 17 kills of her own.
Molly Phillips added 11 kills and four blocks, Asjia O'Neal had 10 kills and three blocks and Kayla Caffey finished with six kills and four blocks.
Saige Ka'aha'aina-Torres had yet another double-double with 52 assists and 11 digs. Zoe Fleck had 25 digs, four assists and two service aces.
The first set went back-and-forth all the way until the end but the Wildcats finished it with back-to-back aces to take it 25-23. The Longhorns only hit .242 with seven attack errors in the first set, while K-State hit .303.
Texas got off to a slow start tin the second set before rattling off a 6-0 run to grab a 10-7 lead. From there it was all Longhorns, as they went up 21-10 and cruised to a 25-13 win while hitting .414 in the set.
The Longhorns jumped out to an early lead in the third set and maintained it throughout, taking a 2-1 lead with a 25-16 win. Phillips had six kills with a .667 hitting percentage to lead Texas in the set.
Kansas State put up a fight in the fourth set, battling back from down 14-9 to tie the set at 17-all. The Longhorns were able to close it out 25-21 with O'Neal tallying three kills and a block late in the set.
The Longhorns head to Fort Worth, Texas next week to take on TCU on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
