Men's Golf's Vick posts successful showing at Cadence Bank Houston Open

Senior All-American makes the weekend cut and ties for 39th place at even-par 280.
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas Men's Golf senior Travis Vick concluded a successful week at the PGA TOUR's Cadence Bank Houston Open on Sunday afternoon at Memorial Park Golf Course. Vick finished in a tie for 39th place with a four-round score of even-par 280 (68-69-71-72).
The lone amateur in the 132-player field, Vick made the 68-player weekend cut with a 36-hole score of 3-under-par 137 (68-69). In addition to Vick's success, former Longhorns Scottie Scheffler tied for ninth at 6-under-par 274 (70-66-71-67) and Cole Hammer placed in a tie for 27th at 2-under-par 278 (74-65-71-69).
This marked the second straight week that Vick participated in a PGA TOUR event, as he competed in the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba on Nov. 3-6.
A three-time All-American during his career at Texas, Vick posted a 71.10 stroke average in four stroke-play events during the fall 2002 season with the Longhorns. He earned a ninth-place individual finish at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup (Oct. 10-11) with a 6-under-par 210 (69-72-69) and added a tie for ninth place at the East Lake Cup (Oct. 24) with an even-par 72.
As a junior in 2021-22, Vick earned second-team All-America honors from both Golfweek and PING (GCAA). He posted a team-best 70.84 stroke average and registered three top-five, six top-10 and nine top-20 individual finishes in 12 stroke-play events during the 2021-22 season. Vick tallied a 2-1 mark in NCAA Match Play, including a 4&3 win over Reid Davenport of Vanderbilt in the semifinals and the clinching 1-up victory against Arizona State's Cameron Sisk in the NCAA Championship match. Vick recorded a career-best second-place individual finish at the NCAA Norman Regional (May 16-18) at 10-under-par 206 (67-67-72).
This past summer, Vick earned low amateur honors at the U.S. Open and competed for Team USA at the Arnold Palmer Cup in Switzerland. He also advanced to the semifinals of the Western Amateur.
