Four Relays Advance to Texas Relays Finals

AUSTIN, Texas – All four Texas relay teams advanced to Saturday's finals at the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays presented by Truist on Friday night.
The women of Julien Alfred, Rhasidat Adeleke, Kevona Davis and Kynnedy Flannel began the day shattering both the Texas and Texas Relay 4x100 record with a time of 42.42. The time ranks as the No. 6 all-time in the NCAA. The group advanced to Saturday's final at 1:30 p.m.
The men's team also advanced to the final finishing with the fifth-fastest time of 38.87 set by Gabriele Montefalcone, Willington Wright, Marcellus Moore and Micaiah Harris.
Davis, Kennedy Simon, Flannel and Stacey Ann Williams also advanced to Saturday's 4x400 relay final with the second-fastest time of the day at 3:32.60. Gabriele Montefalcone, Brian Herron, Harris and Jon Maas qualified on the men's side with a time of 3:06.38.
Ackelia Smith broke Terri Turner's outdoor triple jump record on her first jump of 13.86m (45-5.75). She improved her mark to 13.87m on her fifth attempt to finish second, overall. Smith now holds both the indoor and outdoor triple jump record after breaking Turner's indoor mark earlier the season at Clemson. Fellow freshman Darja Sopova finished seventh with a mark of 12.91m (42-4.25)
Sean Stavinoha added a ninth-place finish in the men's discus throw at 52.95m (173-8).
The sprint medley relay of Alfred, Adeleke, Simon and Brooke Jaworski broke the Texas Relays record with a time of 3:38.95 and finished second to Texas A&M. The time broke a 34-year Texas record.
Moore, Wright, Herron and Harris won the men's sprint medley relay with a time of 3:14.64 as the No. 5 time in Texas history.
Montefalcone finished second in the 400m hurdles invitational with a personal-best time of 49.71 to improve his time at No. 7 on the Texas all-time list.
The women's DMR of Alyssa Duhart, Williams, Davicia Patterson and Valery Tobias took down both the Texas and Texas Relays record with a winning time of 10:59.91 to end the third day of the relays.
