Men’s Swimming and Diving in second following night three of the NCAA Championships

Drew Kibler captured the 200 free title with a pool record.
ATLANTA – Highlighted by senior Drew Kibler's victory in the 200 free, No. 1 Texas Men's Swimming and Diving closed out the third night of competition in second place on Friday at the NCAA Championship at the McAuley Aquatic Center.
The Longhorns have scored 313 points through the 14 events, trailing only first-place California (320.5) while holding a 41-point lead over third-place Florida (272).

Kibler collected his first career national championship with a time of 1:30.28, out-touching runner-up Grant House of Arizona State by four-tenths of a second and establishing a new pool record. In addition to Kibler's performance in the 200 free, sophomore Coby Carrozza collected a 12th-place result (1:32.56) and freshman Luke Hobson (1:33.66) took 16th.
All told, the Longhorns tallied three records on the night. In the 400 IM, sophomore Carson Foster posted a time of 3:35.69 in the 400 IM final to earn bronze. He registered a time of 3:33.79 in the morning prelim session, a new UT record and now the third-fastest time in NCAA history. Foster was one of a trio of Longhorns to appear in the 400 IM championship final, as junior Jake Foster (3:38.24) placed fifth and sophomore David Johnston (3:40.05) took seventh.
Caspar Corbeau tallied a third record in the 100 breast with the junior winning silver with a new UT-best mark of 50.49.
Texas added crucial points in the 100 fly with a 12th-place effort from sophomore Zac Van Zandt with a time of 45.21, while senior Alvin Jiang (45.64) tied for 15th in 45.64.
Senior Cameron Auchinachie closed out the individual swimming events for Texas swimming 44.98 in the 100 back to tie for 12th.
On the 3-meter springboard, sophomore Noah Duperre placed second in the consolation final with 409.80 points to take 10th overall in the competition. Duperre narrowly missed advancing to the championship final, finishing ninth during the morning-session trials with 395.30 points, 0.25 points behind the eighth-place finisher.
Texas wrapped up the evening with a fourth-place finish in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:01.22 from the quartet of Auchinachie, Corbeau, Van Zandt and senior Daniel Krueger.
The NCAA Championships will conclude Saturday, March 26 at the McAuley Aquatic Center.
Saturday's action will feature competition in the 1650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, platform diving and 400-yard freestyle relay. Prelims start at 9 a.m. CT with the finals sessions scheduled to get underway each day at 5 p.m. CT. All prelim and finals sessions will be streamed live on ESPN3.
