No. 1/1 Track and Field Sweep Aggies in College Station

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – No. 1/1 Texas track and field program swept the dual meet against Texas A&M on Saturday at E.B. Cushing Stadium.
The men outscored the Aggies 105.5-96.5, while the women edged A&M 102-100. The men won 11 of 19 scored events, with Stacy Brown Jr., winning both the long and triple jump. The women won 10 of the 19 events with Tyra Gittens equaling her personal-best and facility record in the high jump.

Brown set a personal-best in the long jump with a mark of 7.93m and finished the sweep with a jump of 14.10m in the triple jump to score 10 points for Texas. Gittens tied the Texas program record with a jump of 1.95m (6-4.75) for the second-best mark in the NCAA this season, tied her personal-best jump of her career and tied her previous faciltiy record at A&M.
The men swept the relays by winning the 4x100 relay with a time of 39.08 by Daniel Garland, Willington Wright, Micaiah Harris and Marcellus Moore. The 4x400 relay closed the day with a winning time of 3:02.33 by Gabriele Montefalcone, Brian Herron, Jonathan Jones and Willington Wright that produced the third-fastest time in program history. Jones spilt 43.38 on the third leg to help Texas defeat the Aggies.

In the men's 4x400, @TexasTFXC clocks 3:02.33 to close out its dual meet with @aggietfxc.
That's the fastest ever in a collegiate dual meet (previous 3:02.74 '86).
Jonathan Jones had a thrilling 3rd-leg split of 43.48 after earlier winning the 400 in 45.07.
Tripp Piperi won the shot put with the second-best mark in program history at 21.53m, .01 off his program-record throw he set last weekend at the Texas Relays.
Kelsie Vicknair won the 3000m steeplechase with a personal-best time of 10:36.73, while Valery Tobias also set a personal-best time in the 1500m with a winning time of 4:23.41. Cruz Gomez made it a Texas sweep in the 1500m with his time of 3:42.68.
Jones also won the open 400m with a collegiate-leading time of 45.07 seconds that ranks as the fourth-fastest performance in Texas history. Jones holds all four of the top four times.
Texas also swept the 400m hurdles with Montefalcone setting a personal-best time of 49.42 and moved to No. 5 on the Texas all-time list. Brooke Jaworski set a personal-best in her win with a time of 57.26.
