No. 1 Texas TF Distance Squad Heads to Historic Penn Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - The No. 1 Texas track and field men's and women's distance squad are set to compete at the historic Penn Relays on Thursday and Saturday.
Fans can follow the event on FloSports.com, while live stats can be found here. The historic meet is back on after two years of no competition due to COVID-19. Texas has championed 38 events in total at the Penn Relays with the latest coming in 2015 when the women won the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:29.46. Seven Longhorns have been named Athletes of the Meet, the latest being Leo Manzano in both 2007 and 2008.
Six of the seven events Texas will compete in are set for Thursday night. Valery Tobias, who currently has the No. 35 time in the NCAA, and Alyssa Duhart will begin competition in the women's 1500m. Brendan Hebert will follow in the men's section.
Kelsie Vicknair and Allyson Little will compete in the women's 3000m steeplechase in a field of 38, with Vicknair competing in heat 1 and Little in the second.
Four Longhorns will follow in the women's 5000m led by Isabel Hebner, Beth Ramos, Aaliya Fazel and Eva Jess. Yaseen Abdalla, Abraham Avila-Martinez and Isaac Alonzo will compete on the men's side shortly after.
Monica Hebner, Ava Peeples and Alexa Rodriguez will close out Thursday's competition in the women's 10,000m.
Yusuf Bizimana, Crayton Carrozza, Cruz Gomez and another Longhorn will compete in the men's 4xmile competition scheduled for Saturday at 1:10 p.m.
