Bryan Jones inducted into Texas Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame

Former Texas All-American is the 28th Longhorn enshrined in the Texas Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Men's Swimming and Diving Legend Bryan Jones was inducted into the Texas Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame on Friday evening at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
A specialist in the butterfly, Jones (1997-2000) served as the team captain for Texas' 2000 National Championship team and is the 28th former Longhorn to enshrined in the Texas Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame. Under legendary Texas head coach Eddie Reese and Texas Hall of Honor inductee Kris Kubik, Jones was a 15-time Big 12 champion, five-time NCAA champion and 21-time All-American.
On the national stage, Jones was a six-time U.S. national champion, including a 1999 title in the 50-meter butterfly. He is a former world record holder as part of the 200 freestyle relay and set an American record in the 50m fly in March 2001 which he held until it was broken by Ian Crocker in July 2005.
Internationally, Jones represented the United States as a member of the 1998 and 2001 World Championship teams, 1997 World University Games team, 1998 Goodwill Games team, 1999 Pan Pacific team, and the 2003 Pan American Games team. With the 4x100m freestyle relay squad, he won gold at the 1998 World Championships and 1998 Goodwill Games and silver at the 1999 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships. In the 4x100m medley relay, Jones captured gold at the 1997 Summer Universiade and silver at the 1998 Goodwill Games.
A native of College Station, Texas, Jones was an outstanding age group swimmer for the Aggie Swim Club and Bob Leland, where he won multiple TAGS (Texas Swimming Age Group) championships. In high school, he was an all-American and two-time Texas state high school champion.
He gave back to the sport by serving on the board of directors of USA Swimming from 1998-2008 and in 2018 was among four honorees to receive the Outstanding Young Texas Exes Award. Jones currently lives with his family in Austin and serves as the COO of Auctane.
