No. 13 Women’s Golf advances to fourth round at NCAA Championship

After clearing Sunday’s top-15 cutline, Longhorns look to advance to match play at third-straight NCAA Championship.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — No. 13 Texas Women's Golf shot a 13-over-par 301 on Sunday and is tied for 13th-place at 37-over-par 901 (305-295-301) through three rounds at the NCAA Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club. As one of the top-15 teams in the field, the Longhorns have advanced to play in the fourth round of 18-hole stroke play on Monday.
Freshman Bohyun Park leads the Longhorn after 54-holes and is tied for 20th at five-over-par 221 (76-68-77). Sophomore Bentley Cotton shot the low round on the day for Texas with an even-par 72, her 10th round at par or better on the season.
In addition to the Longhorns (No. 13 in the final WGCA Coaches Poll of the season, released on May 6, 2022), the 24-team NCAA Championship field includes: No. 1 Stanford, No. 2 Oregon, No. 3 South Carolina, No. 4 Wake Forest, No. 5 San Jose State, No. 6 Oklahoma State, No. 7 Arizona State, No. 8 Virginia, No. 9 Alabama, No. 10 UCLA, No. 11 USC, No. 14 LSU, No. 15 Florida State, No. 16 Baylor, No. 17 Texas A&M, No. 18 Auburn, No. 19 Michigan, No. 21 Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi State, Purdue, TCU and Vanderbilt.
No. 1 Stanford remains in the lead following the third round action at even-par 864 (289-292-283). No. 2 Oregon is in second at nine-over-par 873 (297-288-288), while No. 17 Texas A&M has moved up to third at 13-over-par 877 (292-297-288).
Stanford's Rose Zhang holds a seven-stroke advantage in the individual standings as she sits at nine-under-par 207 (68-70-69). Georgia's Jenny Bae and Oregon's Tze-Han Lin are each tied for second at two-under-par 214.
The NCAA Championship continues with 18 holes of stroke play on Monday. The top-eight teams following Monday's action will then compete in match play on Tuesday and Wednesday. Playing in its sixth-straight NCAA Championship, Texas is seeking to advance to match play for the third-straight time. With back-to-back ties for fifth-place at the NCAA Championship in 2021 and 2019, the Longhorns are also looking to post a fifth-straight top-15 NCAA showing, having finished 12th in 2018 and 13th in 2017. The 2020 NCAA Championship was cancelled due to COVID-19.
UT will be paired with No. 3 South Carolina and No. 8 Virginia for Monday's fourth round, with tee times beginning at 12 p.m. CT on hole 1. The Golf Channel will air live coverage of the fourth round starting at 4 p.m. CT.
The Lineup
- Freshman Bohyun Park shot a five-over-par 77 and is tied for 20th at five-over-par 221 (76-68-77). Park tallied one birdie (No. 18, par-5) on the day.
- Sophomore Bentley Cotton carded an even-par 72 and is tied for 63rd at 10-over-par 226 (79-75-72). Cotton led the team with four birdies (No. 11, par-5; No. 14, par-4; No. 15, par-4; No. 7, par-5) on Sunday.
- Senior Sara Kouskova scored a six-over-par 78 and is tied for 75th at 12-over-par 228 (77-73-78). Kouskova registered three birdies (No. 14, par-4; No. 17, par-4; No. 6, par-4) during the third round.
- Junior Sophie Guo posted a two-over-par 74 and is tied for 89th at 14-over-par 230 (77-79-74). Guo recorded two birdies (No. 16, par-3; No. 7, par-5) on the day.
- Graduate Brigitte Thibault tallied a nine-over-par 81 and is tied for 114th at 19-over-par 235 (75-79-81). Thibault registered one birdie (No. 2, par-4) on Sunday.
