Trio from Men's Track and Field earn spots at NCAA Championships

Seven Longhorns advance to Friday's quarterfinals in the track events.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Three Longhorns on the men's No. 1 track and field team secured their spots at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Stacy Brown Jr., finished the third-best mark in the men's long jump at 7.85m/25-9.25 and was the first Longhorn to qualify for the NCAAs.

Tripp Piperi and Jalil Brewer also earned a spot at the Championships in the shot put. Piperi finished with the best throw of the day at 20.74m/68.50, while Brewer finished fifth with a throw of 19.67m/64-6.50.

On the track, Micaiah Harris advanced to the quarterfinals in both the 100m and 200m. Harris, who recently swept both events at the Big 12 Championships, finished the 100m with a time of 10.34 and finished fourth in the 200m at 20.33 to advance to Friday's quarterfinals.
Three Longhorns advanced to the 400m quarterfinals, led by Jonathan Jones who won his heat with a time of 45.62 seconds. Brian Herron finished with a time of 45.89 seconds with the eighth-fastest time, while Willington Wright finished at 46.09.
Yusuf Bizimana also advanced to a Friday final as he won Heat 3 of the 800m with his time of 1:48.61. Crayton Carrozza won Heat 1 of the 1500m with his time of 3:42.92, the eighth-fastest time of the day.
Charles Brockman III ran a season-best time of 49.86 in the 400m hurdles that was the third-fastest time of the day. He was the final Longhorn to qualify for a quarterfinal on Friday.

The women start their first day of competition on Thursday at 2 p.m., in the javelin.
