Men's Track and Field/Cross Country named Program of the Year

First time in program history to win the John McDonnell award.
AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas men's track and field/cross country team was named the John McDonnell Men's Program of the Year on Tuesday morning.
Head Coach Edrick Floreal's program was tabbed with the prestigious award after a 14th-place finish during the cross country season, winning its first ever men's track and field championship during the indoor season and a runner-up finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
The historic season is now capped off with the John McDonnell award, its first time in program history to ever earn the title. Texas finished third for this award at the end of the 2012 and 2015 season .
The USTFCCCA Program of the Year is awarded annually to the most outstanding cross country/track and field program that achieved the most success in each academic year.
In order to be elgibile for the award, teams must qualify for each of the NCAA Championships. Scoring is based on the team's finish at each NCAA Championships in cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field. Teams with the lowest point total for all championships combined earn the award.
