Volleyball’s Eggleston named Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year

Logan Eggleston is the back-to-back preseason pick for the league’s Player of the Year.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Volleyball's Logan Eggleston has been selected as the Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year for the second-consecutive season, the office announced Wednesday. Eggleston leads a total of four players named to the preseason All-Big 12 team.
Texas led the Preseason All-Big 12 team with four out of the 15 selections, including Eggleston, Asjia O'Neal, Zoe Fleck and Madisen Skinner.
Eggleston becomes the first player to repeat as Preseason Player of the Year since UT's Micaya White in 2018-19 and marks the 13th time a Longhorn has been bestowed with the honor. The two-time reigning Big 12 Player of the Year was second in the conference with 4.67 points per set, third with an average of 0.48 service aces per set and had 3.85 kills per set in 2021. The four-time AVCA All-American was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week four times last season and led Texas to an NCAA Regional Final appearance with a 27-2 record.
O'Neal was a First Team All-Big 12 selection last season after finishing fifth on the team with 170 kills and third with a .383 hitting percentage. She was also second on the team with 114 total blocks but led the Longhorns with 16 solo blocks.
Fleck was an All-American selection in 2021 at UCLA and the two-time Pac-12 Libero of the Year. She helped lead the Bruins to a second-place finish in the Pac-12 and a berth in the NCAA Regional Semifinal. Fleck finished with 463 digs, averaging 3.99 digs per set and was second on the team with 19 service aces.
Skinner was a two-time AVCA Honorable Mention All-American and two-time All-SEC selection at Kentucky. Last season, Skinner led the Wildcats with 3.78 kills per set, finished with a .282 hitting percentage. She finished with 389 kills and her 49 total blocks were the fifth-most on the team.
