Men’s Golf senior trio earn spots in final PGA TOUR University Class of 2022

Pierceson Coody and Cole Hammer receive Korn Ferry Tour membership, while Parker Coody claims membership on a PGA TOUR international tour.
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas Men's Golf seniors Pierceson Coody, Cole Hammer and Parker Coody all earned spots among the top-15 individuals in the PGA TOUR University final Class of 2022 Velocity Global Ranking. Pierceson Coody claimed the No. 1 spot, while Hammer was No. 5 and Parker Coody placed No. 13 in the final rankings.
With their top-five finishes, both Pierceson Coody and Hammer claim spots on the PGA TOUR University First Team. They earn Korn Ferry Tour membership this summer and will be exempt into all open, full-field Korn Ferry Tour events, beginning with the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX on June 9-12. Pierceson Coody and Hammer are also exempt into the Final Stage of the current season's Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying Tournament.
By finishing in the sixth-thru-15th spots, Parker Coody earns membership on a PGA TOUR international tour beginning the week after the NCAA Championship. On PGA TOUR Canada, eligibility begins with the ATB Classic presented by Volvo Edmonton on June 16-19. Parker Coody is also exempt into the Second Stage of the current season's Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying Tournament.
The senior trio led the Longhorns to the 2022 NCAA Championship with a 3-2 victory over Arizona in the championship match on June 1. Texas claimed its fourth NCAA team title in program history, as UT previously claimed the championship in 1971, 1972 and 2012.
Pierceson Coody concluded the 2021-22 season with a 71.00 stroke average. He recorded two top-two and seven top-20 individual finishes in eight stroke-play events this season. Coody earned individual medalist honors with a six-stroke victory at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational (April 2-3) at 17-under-par 199 (67-66-66) and was named the Big 12 Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for March based on his performance at the Haskins Award Invitational. He also tied for second at the Western Intercollegiate (April 11-13) at 2-over-par 212 (70-73-69). By virtue of his tie for 15th place in the individual standings at the NCAA Championships Stroke Play, he automatically earned Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-America honors.
Hammer ended the 2021-22 season with a 71.08 stroke average. One of five finalists for the 2022 Byron Nelson Award presented by Srixon/Cleveland Golf that is given annually to the outstanding Division I, II, III or NAIA scholar-athlete of the year, he also earned a spot on the 2022 CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-District 7 first-team in the Men's At-Large sports division. Hammer registered five top-10 and eight top-15 individual finishes in 12 stroke-play events this season. He posted a season-best tie for second at the Southern Highlands Collegiate (Feb. 27-March 1) at 11-under-par 205 (71-67-67). Hammer also tied for the third at the Big 12 Championship (April 25-27) at 5-under-par 211 (70-70-71) and was named to the Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team.
Parker Coody finished the 2021-22 season with a 71.71 stroke average. He tallied four top-10 individual finishes in 10 stroke-play events this season. Coody produced a sixth-place showing at the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational (Sept. 13-15) at 3-under-par 213 (72-68-73). He also tied for ninth at the Big 12 Championship (April 25-27) at 2-under-par 214 (70-73-71) and was named to the Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team. Coody finished in a four-way tie atop the individual leaderboard at the NCAA Championship Stroke Play with a 72-hole score of even-par 280 (72-780-68-70), before falling in a playoff to Vanderbilt's Gordon Sargent. By virtue of his top-15 finish in the individual standings at the NCAA Championships Stroke Play, Coody automatically earned Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-America honors.
The Velocity Global Ranking is designed to identify the best college golfers based on winning, competitiveness and season-long performance. It is developed in partnership with the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), which ranks the top amateur golfers on the basis of their average performance in counting events. It includes the final two years of competition in NCAA Division I men's golf tournaments (stroke play), official PGA TOUR tournaments and select DP World Tour events.
PGA TOUR University presented by Velocity Global rewards elite college players with access to Tours operated under the PGA TOUR umbrella, while upholding the principles and virtues of collegiate athletics. Introduced in 2020, the program strengthens and elevates the path to the PGA TOUR through the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA TOUR international tours.
