Soccer’s Lexi Missimo named to 2022 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas soccer sophomore midfielder Lexi Missimo has been included on the preseason watch list for the 2022 MAC Hermann Trophy according to a Thursday release from the United Soccer Coaches.

The MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List is compiled by members of the United Soccer Coaches Women's NCAA Division I All-America Committee.

Presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club, the MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer. Fifteen women's players will become semifinalists on Nov. 30, following completion of Division I All-America voting, then on Dec. 7, three players from a final round of voting will be tabbed as finalists. Winners will be announced Jan. 6, 2023, at a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo.

This marks the fourth time in the last five seasons that Texas has had at least one player listed on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List. Former All-American forward Cyera Hintzen was considered during both the 2018 & 2019 seasons, senior midfielder/forward Haley Berg made the cut in 2019 and junior All-American midfielder Julia Grosso was a part of the prestigious list during the COVID-19 split 2020-21 campaign.

Missimo preps for her second season on the Forty Acres following a standout 2021 campaign that saw her earn Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year honors. The Southlake, Texas, native and United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region selection scored nine goals and dished a league-high & Texas freshman record 14 assists for 32 total points (fourth in the Big 12). Along the way, she totaled points in 12-of-22 matches and at least three points in five separate contests. Included was a program-record-tying performance during Texas' 7-0 rout of UTRGV (Sept. 12) as Missimo became the first Longhorns player to score four goals in a match in 18 years. She also tied a program mark by dishing four assists during a 4-3 victory at Oklahoma on Sept. 2 and registered match-winning goals to down both SIUE (Sept. 19) and Iowa State (Oct. 8).
