No. 1 Volleyball sweeps High Point

The Longhorns finished non-conference play with their fifth sweep of the season.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 1 Texas Volleyball wrapped up non-conference play with a 3-0 sweep of High Point, 25-16, 25-18, 25-16, on Friday at Gregory Gym.
The Longhorns (8-0) tied their season high with a .365 hitting percentage en route to their fifth sweep of the season.
Madisen Skinner led the way with 13 kills and a .458 hitting percentage, while adding eight digs and three total blocks. Melanie Parra and Logan Eggleston each added nine kills apiece.
Bella Bergmark finished with seven kills on just eight attempts for an incredible .875 hitting percentage. Kayla Caffey led the Longhorns with four total blocks and added five kills.
Zoe Fleck had another strong back-row performance, with 22 digs and five assists. She is now averaging 4.93 digs per set, the second-best total in the Big 12.
Saige Ka'aha'aina-Torres finished with 33 assists, seven digs, one block and one service ace.
The Longhorns cruised to a 25-16 win the first set, hitting .406 and getting six kills from Skinner. Bergmark and Parra each added four kills apiece in the first set as well.
It was more of the same in the second set, with Texas taking a 2-0 lead after a 25-18 win. Skinner led the Longhorns with six more kills in the second set, including the final kill to clinch the set.
After trailing 10-5 in the third set, the longhorns used an 11-1 run including a 9-0 run with Keonilei Akana at the service line. Parra closed out the match in a resounding way, with six total kills on seven swings.
The Longhorns will head on the road to open Big 12 Conference play against Kansas at Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena on Wednesday at 8 p.m. on ESPNU.
