Matt Scoggin to serve as the USA Head Diving Coach
AUSTIN, Texas – Three Longhorns are set to represent USA Diving at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile from Oct. 20-25.
Two divers, Hailey Hernandez and Jordan Skilken, will join Longhorns head diving coach Matt Scoggin in Chile along with eight other divers for Team USA.
Hernandez is one of three Olympians that were named to the team and was among several diver who represented the U.S., at the World Aquatics Championships in Japan this summer. Hernandez will represent the U.S. on the 3-meter and the 1-meter.
Skilken will represent The States on the 10-meter, making her international debut after winning silver on the 10-meter at the 2022 USA Diving Winter National Championships and bronze at the 2023 USA Diving Winter National Championships.
The pair will also compete together on the 3-meter synchro.
The Pan American Games serve as an opportunity for countries to qualify for the Olympic Games, as the winner of each individual Olympic event will secure their country a quota spot.
