Scholtz earns first Big 12 career award.

AUSTIN, Texas – Freshman Will Scholtz of the No. 13 men's swim team was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.

Scholtz earned his first Big 12 award of his career on Wednesday after a successful Texas Invitational showing. Scholtz was part of the winning 200 medley relay that finished with a time of 1:24.22 swimming the second leg.

He also posted two B-cut times in both the 100 breast with a time of 52.47 with a third-place finish and in the 200 breast at 1:54.35 to finish fifth.

Scholtz and the Longhorns will return to the pool in January when they travel to Raleigh, N.C., on the 26^th to face NC State and Durham, N.C., on the 27^th to compete against Duke.
