No. 3 Men’s Swimming and Diving captures Big 12 Championship

Texas won 20 of 21 event for its 44th consecutive conference title.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 3 Men's Swimming and Diving won the 2023 Big 12 Conference Championship on Saturday at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. Texas won 20 of 21 events to claim the Big 12 Conference title for the 27th-straight year and extended its streak of consecutive league titles to 44, all under legendary coach Eddie Reese.
The current streak dates back to the 1980 Southwest Conference championship. All told, the Longhorns have recorded a total of 65 conference titles (38 Southwest Conference, 27 Big 12 Conference).
Carson Foster opened the evening with a victory in the 200 back with a time of 1:38.87, his third-straight title in the event. His time is the third-fastest in the nation this season.
Daniel Krueger followed with a historic fifth-consecutive conference crown in the 100 free, winning with a time of 42.12. Kreuger is also the five-time champion in the 50 free, having retained his title in that event on Thursday.
Next, David Johnston three-peated as the conference champion in the 1650 free, swimming a 14:37.30, an A-cut and the third-fastest time in the NCAA this year.
In the 200 breast, Caspar Corbeau won the conference crown for the fourth consecutive year, clocking 1:51.92 for the win. Sam Artmann followed with a win in the 200 fly (1:42.63) to sweep both of the butterfly events at the championship.
On platform, Noah Duperre scored a season-high 392.30 points to win his first career conference championship.
The Horns closed out the meet with a win in the 400 free relay with a time of 2:49.26 from the quartet of Daniel Krueger, Peter Larson, Luke Hobson and Carson Foster.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Texas took the top-two spots in the 200 back with Carson Foster winning in 1:38.87 and Ethan Harder, who won the 100 back, finishing runner-up with a time of 1:41.48. Charlie Crosby placed fifth in 1:46.01.
- The Longhorns swept the podium in the 100 free. Daniel Krueger won it in 42.12, Peter Larson finished second in 42.61, and Luke Hobson took third in 42.62.
- UT had the five fastest swimmers in the 200 breaststroke. Caspar Corbeau won it in 1:51.92, followed by Braden Vines (1:53.48), Jake Foster (1:53.61), Paul Degrado (1:55.96) and Will Chan (1:56.44).
- The Horns also swept the top-three spots in the 200 fly, behind Sam Artmann (1:42.63), Cole Crane (1:43.25) and Coby Carrozza (1:45.45)
