No. 5 Men’s Swim and Dive dominates SMU, 181-83

Texas tallied victories in 14 events to defeat the Mustangs.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 5 Men's Swimming and Diving defeated SMU, 181-83, on Friday at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in the final regular season meet for the full squad this season. The Longhorns had the top finisher in 14 of 15 events.
The day was highlighted by five Longhorns tallying a pair of victories each.
Nick Harris continued his stellar freshman campaign by once again sweeping the springboards, scoring 402.30 points to win the 3-meter with 402.30 points and collecting 379.80 points to earn the victory on 1-meter.
Carson Foster also won a pair of events, winning the 100 back in 45.94, then swimming a personal-best 1:53.77 to win the 200 breast, a time that ranks him as the 10th-best performer in the event in Texas history.
Luke Hobson swam a pair of personal bests to earn a two victories on the evening, first in the 100 free with a time of 42.58, and then with a 100 fly time of 47.74.
Caspar Corbeau won the 50 free in 19.61, then swam a season-best 1:44.96 to win the 200 IM.
Jake Foster was the winner in the 200 fly with a time of 1:44.15 and posted a 500 free season-best 4:18.46 to add another victory for Texas.
Texas' relay squads started off the swimming events with a win in the 200 medley relay. The quartet of Chris O'Connor, Will Chan, Caspar Corbeau and Peter Larson finished with a time of 1:26.03.
Spencer Aurnou-Rhees followed with a win in the 200 free, clocking a season-best 1:36.13 and Ethan Harder swam a 200 back season-best 1:42.49 to earn the win.
The Longhorns wrapped up the evening by posting the fastest time in the 400 free relay. Ethan Doehler, Cole Crane, Carson Foster and Coby Carrozza combined for a mark of 2:55.23 to win by over five seconds.
Next up, several Longhorns will compete in time trials at The Sterkel Classic on Saturday at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. Following that, Texas will next be in action when they host the Big 12 Championship, Feb. 22-25.

- Texas Diving took the top five spots on the 1-meter and the 3-meter.
- Noah Duperre was the runner-up on both the 3-meter (402.30) and 1-meter (362.10), while Brenden McCourt took third on 3-meter (391.65) and fourth on 1-meter (355.40). Manuel Borowski was third on 1-meter (355.95) and fourth on 3-meter (377.27), and Andrew Harness placed fifth on both 3-meter (370.28) and 1-meter (332.10).
- Paul Degrado took second in the 100 breast with a swim of 54.02 and Will Chan was the runner-up in the 50 free with a time of 19.93.
- Coby Carrozza placed second in the 100 free with a season-best 43.70, Nathan Quarterman was the runner-up in the 200 back with a time of 1:45.18 and Manning Haskal took second in the 500 free in 4:29.61.
- David Johnston finished third in the 200 fly (1:46.53) and 200 IM (1:46.38, PB).
- Jackson Huckabay placed third in the 200 free in 1:36.54 and Braden Vines took third in the 100 fly with a season-best 48.99.
