No. 8 Women’s Golf Preview: PING/ASU Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 8 University of Texas women's golf team will continue the spring season with the Ping ASU Invitational in Tempe, Ariz., March 24-26.
The tournament features seven teams ranked in the top-15.
The following teams will be competing in the field: Arizona State (10), Northwestern (22), Oregon (5), Washington State, New Mexico (45), Colorado, Mississippi State (6), Southern California (12), Kansas, Baylor (11), Michigan (33), NW Indy, Texas (8), Oregon State, Arizona (15), Washington, Michigan State (43) and California (41).
Texas golfers: Angela Heo, Sophie Guo, Bentley Cotton, Cindy Hsu and Emily Odwin.
The Longhorns are paired with Oregon State and Arizona in the first round, with the first tee time at 11:30 a.m. CT off hole one.
The tournament will be contested at the Papago Golf Course and will be a par-72, 6,543 yard layout.

Last time out the Longhorns earned the team championship at the Cactus Cup match play event. Texas captured wins over No. 4 South Carolina and No. 6 San Jose State at the event. Freshman Angela Heo went 3-0 over the course of the event.
Cindy Hsu tied for fourth-place individually with a final round 67 and the team finished fifth at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate.
In their first tournament of the spring season, the Longhorns finished in eighth place at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge. Sophie Guo led the Longhorns with an individual T2 finish.
The Longhorns posted two runner-up finishes in the fall season and finished in the top-six in all four of their tournaments. Texas recorded a 46-10 head-to-head record in the fall season.
Bohyun Park recorded a runner-up finish at The ANNIKA Intercollegiate and freshman Cindy Hsu finished in eighth-place. At the Momorial Sophie Guo finished in seventh-place and Cindy Hsu earned another top-10 as she finished in 10th place. At the Windy City Collegiate Classic Bentley Cotton was the top Longhorn with a third-place finish. In their final fall tournament, the Stanford Intercollegiate, freshman Angela Heo finished in fourth-place.
