Swimming tallies six podium finishes at TYR Pro Series Westmont

The Texas Men’s and Women’s squads combined to earn five silver medals and one bronze medal in Illinois.
WESTMONT, Ill. – Texas Men's and Women's Swimming recorded six top-three performances at the TYR Pro Series Westmont stop at the FMC Aquatic Center on Friday. Current, former and future Longhorns combined to collect five silver medals and one bronze medal on the third night of the four-day competition.
Carson Foster earned his second silver medal of the meet with a second-place performance in the men's 200-meter butterfly. Foster collected silver in Thursday's 400-meter individual medley.
Luke Hobson collected silver in the men's 400-meter freestyle, placing second in 3:51.71, while Foster took fourth in 3:52.50.
Anna Elendt won silver in the women's 200-meter breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:24.74, while Lydia Jacoby swam 2:26.57 to place fifth.
Emma Sticklen won bronze in the women's 200-meter butterfly with a swim of 2:11.22 and Texas Ex Leah Gingrich placed fifth in 2:14.91.
Texas Ex Will Licon added a silver-medal performance in the men's 200-meter breaststroke with a swim of 2:10.80.
Leah Smith, who trains in Austin with Texas Women's head coach Carol Capitani, collected gold in the women's 400-meter freestyle in 4:07.95. Incoming Longhorn Erin Gemmell won silver in the 400m free, out touching third-place finisher Madi Mitenko, 4:11.83 to 4:11.85. Gemmell added a sixth-place result in the 50-meter freestyle consolation final with a swim of 25.95.
Shaine Casas, who trains with Texas Men's Swimming head coach Eddie Reese, won the 50-meter butterfly, clocking 23.46, and earned bronze in the 100-meter back with a time of 53.65.
The TYR Pro Series stop in Westmont concludes on Saturday with prelims beginning at 9 a.m. CT and finals at 6 p.m. The prelims and finals will be streamed live on www.usaswimming.org/watch.
