Julien Alfred runs second-fastest all-conditions 100m time in NCAA history
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 1/6 Texas track and field closed out the competition at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational with numerous Longhorns moving up on the Texas All-Time list.
Julien Alfred continued her historic shorts sprints season on Saturday running the collegiate all-time, all-conditions fastest 100-meter time at 10.72 with a wind level of 2.4. Alfred now has the top-four all-conditions times in Texas history.
Kevona Davis finished fourth with her wind-aided time of 10.92, the seventh-fastest all-conditions time in Texas history, while Ezinne Abba became the third Longhorn under 11 seconds with a time of 10.99w.
Junior Rhasidat Adeleke ran the third-fastest time in Texas history in the 400-meter dash breaking the 50-second barrier with a time of 49.90. Only Courtney Okolo and Sanya Richards-Ross have ever run faster in Texas history and ran the eighth-fastest time in collegiate history. Senior Lanae Tava-Thomas ran her first collegiate 400 in 51.22 to finish fourth, while Kennedy Simon finished fifth in 51.31.
On the men's side, Brian Herron recorded the fastest 400 time for the Longhorns with a time of 45.96.
Kiana Lowery got the winning started for Texas in the discus with a throw of 52.06m (170-9), finishing just below her personal best.
Trinity Tomlinson finished third in the women's high jump invite clearing a personal best height of 1.81m (5-11.25). The mark moves Tomlinson up to No. 8 on the UT All-Time performer list. Freshman Evelyn Lavielle was second in the open high jump with her personal best clearance of 1.76m (5-9.25).
Sophomore Stacy Brown Jr. was the top collegiate finisher in the men's triple jump with his jump of 16.49m (54-1.25). The mark moves Brown up to No. 6 on the All-Time Texas performer list.
The men of John Rutledge, Jonathan Jones, Brian Herron and Caleb Hulbin closed out the meet in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:03.51 to finish fifth.
