No. 8 Women’s Golf in eighth place after day one of Big 12 Championship

DALLAS — The No. 8 University of Texas women's golf team wrapped up the opening day of competition at the Big 12 Championship at the Dallas Athletic Club on Friday.
The Longhorns are in eighth place after an 18-over par 306 opening round. All nine teams shot over par on the day in tough conditions, including a 15-20 mile an hour north wind. Texas Tech leads the field after a three-over-par 291. No. 23 Oklahoma State (+6) and TCU (+7) round out the top three teams.
Bentley Cotton and Bohyun Park led Texas as they each carded rounds of three-over-par 75 and are T22 on the individual leaderboard. Sophie Guo shot five-over-par 77 and is T28. Cindy Hsu (+7) and Angela Heo (+9) round out the five for the Longhorns.
Hsu made back-to-back birdies on holes 12 and 13 and tallied four birdies on her scorecard. Texas finished the round strong with three players making birdie on hole 18. The Longhorns made 11 birdies total on the day.
The Longhorns will be paired with Kansas and Kansas State in round two and tee off from the first hole starting at 8:00 a.m. central time on Saturday.
The Lineup
• Bentley Cotton made two birdies for her round on the way to a three-over-par 75.
• Bohyun Park carded two birdies and shot a three-over-par 75. Park was one-under on the par 4's, ranking tied for third in the field.
• Sophie Guo made two birdies for her round as she carded a five-over-par 77.
• Cindy Hsu ranked tied for fifth for most birdies in the field with four and finished with a seven-over-par 77. Hsu was two-under on the par 5's, good for tied for fourth in the field.
• Angela Heo made one birdie for her round and finished with a nine-over-par 81.
