No. 11 Women’s Golf advances to final round of stroke play at NCAA Championships

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Texas women's golf team tied for the third best round of the day as they moved up to a tie for second place on the team leaderboard. The Horns made the 15-team cut to the final round of stroke play at the NCAA Championships on Sunday at Grayhawk Golf Club.
Freshman Cindy Hsu highlighted the day for Texas with a one-under-par 71 in difficult conditions. Hsu, who is T9 on the individual leaderboard, made two birdies on her first nine holes (starting on hole 10) and made nine pars on her second nine holes.
Bohyun Park got the Longhorns off to a good start on hole 10 as her approach shot landed within a foot of the cup and she made birdie. Park made a key par save on the sixth hole after hitting her approach over the green. The Longhorns closed their first nine in a big way with four of the five Texas players making birdie on the par-5, 18th hole as they made eight combined birdies on their first nine holes.
Park, Sophie Guo and Bentley Cotton each carded rounds of one-over-par 73 and Angela Heo scored a four-over-par 76. Guo carded two birdies on her first nine holes and three total for her round. Cotton made birdie on the par-5, 4th hole.
Stanford leads the field at 13-under par and Texas and Wake Forest are tied for second place at 6-under par. The 15 teams that made the cut will play a final round of stroke play tomorrow with the top eight teams advancing to match play at the NCAA Championships.
The Longhorns will be in the final group with Stanford and Wake Forest and will tee off tomorrow on hole one at 1:50 p.m. central time.
The Golf Channel will provide live national coverage of the final round of stroke play from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. central time.
Notables
• By making the 15-team cut the Longhorns have made the top 15 at the NCAA Championships for the sixth straight year.
• Texas is one of four programs that advanced to the NCAA Championships in each of the last seven seasons.
• Freshman Cindy Hsu is the top Texas golfer through three rounds. Hsu has shot par or better in every round at the NCAA Championships and has now carded 11 rounds at par or better this season. Hsu finished top-10 in her first two collegiate events, including an eighth place finish at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate in her first event.
• The 12-under 276 in the second round of the NCAA Championships was a program record for 18 holes at an NCAA Championships. It was tied for the 12th best round in program history. It also tied for the second best team round in NCAA Championship history among all schools.
• Freshman Angela Heo's 6-under par 66 was the best individual round in program history at the NCAA Championships for the Longhorns. It tied for the sixth-best score relative to par for a round in program history.

• Cindy Hsu carded her third straight round at par or better with a one-under-par 71 on Sunday. Hsu made two birdies on her first nine holes and nine pars on her second nine holes.
• Angela Heo made two birdies on her way to a four-over-par 76 in her third round of play.
• Sophie Guo made three birdies on her round and shot a one-over-par 73. Guo is tied for fourth in the field in birdies with 13 through three rounds of play.
• Bentley Cotton has been a steady force for the Longhorns as she carded a one-over-par 73. Cotton made one birdie on her round today.
• Bohyun Park shot her best round of the championship with a one-over-par 73. Park made birdies on holes 10, 18 and 2 in her round today.
