No. 10 Women’s Golf tied for fourth after opening round of Palm Beach Regional

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — The Texas women's golf team wrapped up the first round of the NCAA Palm Beach Regional on Monday at PGA National and are currently in a tie for fourth place on the team leaderboard.
The Longhorns are seeking to advance to the NCAA Championship for the seventh straight season with the top-five teams advancing from regional competition.
Texas got off to a good start and led the field through the first nine holes of competition. Bohyun Park went three-under-par through 11 holes and finished as the top Texas golfer with a one-under-par 71 first round.
Bentley Cotton made an eagle on the 10th hole to get to one-under-par and finished her round with a three-over-par 75 and a T25 standing. Freshman Angel Heo made three birdies and finished with a two-over-par 74 and a T16 spot on the individual leaderboard.
Michigan State shot the best round of the day with a three-under par 285. The next eight teams on the leaderboard are separated by only four shots. Texas shot a 10-over-par 298 in the first round. The Longhorns are two shots back of second place South Florida and one shot back of third place Arkansas. The Longhorns are tied with Duke and LSU for fourth place on the team leaderboard.
Texas will begin play in the second round tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. central time from the first tee and will be paired with Duke and LSU.
The Lineup
• Bohyun Park made three birdies and was three-under-par through 11 holes. Park is tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard. Last season Park finished T11 on the individual leaderboard at the NCAA Albuquerque Regional.
• Freshman Angela Heo recovered from a bogey on the first hole to shoot two-under-par over her next 13 holes. Heo made three birdies and carded an opening round of two-over-par 74. Heo is T16 on the individual leaderboard.
• Bentley Cotton provided a highlight for Texas with an eagle on the par-5, 526-yard 10th hole to get to one-under-par. Cotton opened with a three-over-par 75 and is T25 on the leaderboard.
• Freshman Cindy Hsu birdied the par-5, 10th hole and shot a six-over-par 78 first round.
• Sophie Guo made two birdies on the day and shot a seven-over-par 79 opening round.
