23 Longhorns named USTFCCCA All-Academic Honorees
AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Texas women's outdoor track and field team and Julien Alfred earned USTFCCCA Academic honors from the 2022-23 season.
The Texas women were named the 2023 NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track and Field National Scholar Team of the Year, maintaining a 3.41 GPA and winning the team title with 83 points. It was the fourth time in program history that Texas has been named the National Scholar Team of the Year.
Alfred became the first Texas female to be named the National Scholar Athlete of the Year in track and field after recording a cumulative GPA of 3.3. The St. Lucia native and five-time NCAA Champion recently swept the short sprints titles at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships with the fastest all-conditions marks in both events.
Both the men and women combined for 23 USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, with the women posting 15 and the men eight.
To be named an All-Academic Athlete, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25, must have completed at least two semesters or three quarters at the nominating school and must have finished in the top-96 in any individual event during the indoor season, top-48 for a relay or top-48 during the outdoor season, qualifying for regionals.
