Carson Foster reached the World Championships podium in the 400 IM for the second consecutive year.
FUKUOKA, Japan – Texas Men's Swimming's Carson Foster won silver in the 400-meter individual medley at the World Aquatics Championships on Sunday at the Marine Messe Fukuoka. It marked the second consecutive world championships in which Foster has captured silver in the event after finishing runner-up last year in Budapest.
"It's always good to get on the podium; it's always the goal," Foster said of his performance. "I've been practicing going in with no expectations and letting my body do the work. I'm happy with silver."
Competing for the United States, Foster swam 4:06.56 to equal his personal-best time in the 400 IM, taking second to Leon Marchand of France, who touched the wall in 4:02.50 to break Michael Phelps' record of 4:03.84 established at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Japan's Daiya Seto won bronze in 4:09.41, while Foster's teammate Chase Kalisz finished fourth in 4:10.23.
