Ford named Reese’s Senior Bowl Defensive Player of the Week

Senior LB Jaylan Ford earned the honor after his outstanding performance at Baylor.
MOBILE, Ala. – Texas senior linebacker Jaylan Ford was named the Reese's Senior Bowl Defensive Player of the Week for week four, the organization announced on Monday. Ford earned the accolade for his stellar performance in Texas' 38-6 victory at Baylor on Saturday.
The Frisco, Texas tallied eight tackles (four solo), one tackle for loss and one interception in the victory. Ford's interception was his second of the season and sixth of his career, the fourth-most for a Texas linebacker in program history. His interception ended a Baylor scoring drive, catching the ball at the goal line and returning it to the Texas 5-yard line. The Texas offense took over from there, marching the length of the field on a 7-play, 95-yard touchdown from for the game's final score.
All six of Ford's interceptions have led to scoring drives for the Longhorns with five touchdowns and one field goal.
The No. 3/5 Longhorns return home on Saturday, Sept. 30 with a matchup against No. 24/24 Kansas. Kickoff from inside Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium is set for 2:30 p.m. with the game airing live on ABC.
