Texas scores seven goals in rout of Stephen F. Austin, most in series history
AUSTIN, TX – Behind three different student-athletes scoring their first career collegiate goals, The University of Texas tied a program record with its fourth consecutive shutout behind a 7-0 victory against Stephen F. Austin.
Thursday night's match started with a seasoned goal scorer — Trinity Byars — pushing her 10th goal on the season into the back of the net less than 14 minutes into the action.
And then 23 minutes later, the energy level was taken to a new level following Lauren Lapomarda's first career goal off an entry pass into the 6-yard box from Jilly Shimkin. The senior defender briefly celebrated with her on-field teammates before racing towards the Texas bench area to celebrate with the rest of her teammates.
Following the first two of Lexi Missimo's three goals on the evening, a pair of freshmen — Carly Montgomery and Arianna Brothers — were able to join the stat sheet. Montgomery on a header in the box off a Missimo cross and Brothers on a strike near the spot on a Byars' pass.
Following Brothers' goal, the Texas program now had 11 different student-athletes who have scored at least one goal this season, including all three freshmen in Montgomery, Brothers and Avery Clark.
FROM HEAD COACH ANGELA KELLY
"To be able to score your first collegiate goal is always an exciting night. Overall, I was really pleased with the response in the second half and credit SFA. We knew they were going to battle, and I thought we moved the ball better in the second half."
FROM SENIOR DEFENDER LAUREN LAPOMARDA
"(My goal) was just a very special moment and I'm grateful to be able to do it with my teammates. We — the outside backs — have been really working on getting up (in the attacking third) and being able to help the offensive attack. (The goal) was just really special. That's all I can say."

- Texas junior midfielder Lexi Missimo tied the program record with 10 points on the evening after finishing the match with four assists and three goals.

- With her first-half goal at the 13-minute mark, Trinity Byars joined Kelly McDonald as the only student-athletes in program history to record three seasons with 10-or-more goals.
- McDonald accomplished the feat in 2001 (10), 2002 (14) and 2003 (14).
- Byars has done so in 2021 (12), 2022 (17) and 2023 (10).
- With her 10-point performance on the evening, Lexi Missimo tied Kelsey Carpenter (2006) for the most points by a junior student-athlete in a single season with 35.

- The 19 seconds between Arianna Brothers and Lexi Missimo's second-half goals were five seconds longer than the program record for fastest consecutive Texas goals (:14) set by Katie Baruth and Valerie Page against Kansas on Sept. 15, 1996.
