Longhorns looks to extend current winning streak to five consecutive matches with Sunday’s match against the Bulldogs
AUSTIN, Texas – For the first time in the 2023 season, The University of Texas women's soccer program will face off against a nationally-ranked opponent when the No. 17 Longhorns face No. 23 Gonzaga at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10 at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
The match will be broadcasted on the Longhorn Network with Glenn Davis (play by play) and Jessica Stamp (analyst) serving at the television talent.
KICKING OFF
- Sunday afternoon's match will be the first top-25 showdown for Texas at home since playing then-No. 22 Oklahoma State on Oct. 27, 2017, when OSU knocked off then-No. 8 Texas, 1-0, in overtime.
- The last time a top-25 ranked Texas team beat a top-25 ranked opponent at home was on Sept. 24, 2017, when the then-No. 17 Longhorns beat then-No. 5 West Virginia, 1-0.
- With her next assist, Longhorn junior midfielder Lexi Missimo will break the program's single-season assist record that was set in 2022 (15) by Missimo.

- Following Thursday night's seven-goal victory over Stephen F. Austin, The University of Texas women's soccer program became the only program to have multiple active student-athletes with 100-or-more career points.

- A clean sheet by Texas on Sunday afternoon would be the fifth consecutive shutout by the Longhorn defense, marking the first time in program history UT has ever limited five straight opponents to zero goals while winning the match.
- Thursday night's win over Stephen F. Austin marked the fifth time in program history the Longhorn defense recorded four consecutive clean sheets with four coming under 12th-year head coach Angela Kelly and three happening over the last three straight seasons: 2008, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
- With her next goal, Trinity Byars will pass Kelsey Carpenter (2004-07) for the third most career goals by a Longhorn women's soccer student-athlete in program history.
- Byars will also become just the third student-athlete in program history to reach 40-or-more career goals.
- If she scores a goal on Sunday afternoon, Lexi Missimo will extend her consecutive matches with a goal streak to five, which would tie Trinity Byars (Oct. 13-30, 2022) and Niki Arlitt (Sept. 14-28, 2007) for the second-longest streak in program history.
- Byars has the program record with a goal in six straight matches from Sept. 12 to Sept. 30, 2021.
- Texas will enter Sunday afternoon's matchup against Gonzaga with a 2-0-0 all-time record against the Bulldogs dating back to the first-ever meeting on Aug. 22, 2019.
- Last season, the Longhorns knocked off the Bulldogs, 3-2, in Spokane, Wash., on Sept. 4, 2022.
- The only previous matchup between the two programs came on Aug. 22, 2019, when Texas won, 4-3, in Austin.
