Texas senior midfielder Lexi Missimo matches teammate Trinity Byars’ 52 career goals
AUSTIN, Texas – The list of things Lexi Missimo hasn't accomplished during her time on the Forty Acres is growing shorter and shorter by the day, especially following Texas' 1-0 victory over Oklahoma on Thursday night.
During the early seconds of the 17th minute in the first half, Missimo, already the program's leader in career points (163) and assists (59), saw an Amalia Villarreal cross from the edge of the 18-yard box and used her head to send the loose ball flying past Oklahoma goalkeeper Caroline Duffy for the match's only goal. Not only was it Missimo's first goal against a Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponent during conference play, but it also tied her with teammate Trinity Byars atop the program's career goals list with 52.
Missimo had multiple opportunities throughout the remainder of the night's contest for the record-breaking goal.
Less than 15 minutes into the second half, Missimo had one of her five shots on the night saved by Duffy. 15 minutes later, the senior just missed the frame with a shot that went left of the goal. After five more minutes ticked off the clock, Missimo, again, had two more looks on goal but both were saved by Duffy.

FROM HEAD COACH ANGELA KELLY
"(Lexi) has been doubled- and tripled-team her whole career and she still finds the space to get shots off. Like tonight, she had five shots and four of them were on goal. She's such an exceptional talent and we are so incredibly fortunate that she came to Texas."
FROM SENIOR MIDFIELDER LEXI MISSIMO
"Well, my job as the 10 is to get assists and goals and I was just doing my job tonight. I couldn't have done it without my teammates around me, though."
