Longhorn Nation,
YESSIREE! The 120th round of the annual extravaganza that is the Allstate Red River Rivalry is in the books and wow was it quite the impressive show. Y'all know it's a rivalry like no other, and this year we certainly took it by the Horns!! Big D was absolutely en fuego, the Longhorn gatherings and events were phenomenal, and from the time our buses pulled onto the Texas State Fairgrounds to a glorious chorus of Texas Fight's with Hook 'Em Horns for as far as the eyes could see, it was one fantastic Longhorn Party. Our Horns stampeded onto the Cotton Bowl turf with the power of Longhorn Nation behind them and never let up. What a sight it was as the greatest fans in the land cheered your hearts out, our Horns played with passion, drive and determination and in the end, it was utter domination. From kickoff to The Eyes of Texas, to the traditional presentation (and passing) of the Golden Hat, what a joy it was taking in a performance that made ol' Big Tex beam with pride and say "see ya later Sooners" in the end. It's a rivalry that always delivers, means even more as an SEC matchup, and rolled right into a sensational Sunday that saw our Horns put over two more wins with No. 7 Volleyball taking down No. 12 Kentucky in a top-15 road matchup and Soccer hitting the road for an SEC victory over LSU. What an awesome time it is to be a Longhorn and with y'all behind us, there's so much more ahead! Let's Go!!
All love from Longhorn Nation 🤘 pic.twitter.com/K8EE7WclWg

SO HERE WE GO! What a terrific setup the Texas-OU triumph is leading into this incredible week on the Forty Acres as Austin will be the epicenter of college football with our No. 1-ranked Longhorns taking on No. 4 Georgia in a clash of the titans at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. ESPN's College GameDay will be in the house (stay tuned for all the details on that), the ABC Saturday Night Football crew will be calling the game once again, all our pregame festivities will be cranked up all the livelong day and kickoff commences when the stars at night are big and bright. It's going to be an incredible, can't-miss week deep in the heart of Texas. So let's paint the city Burnt Orange & White, show our SEC friends what we're all about, and put on the most spectacular show and party for the world to see. The weekend gets rolling with a Soccer (Mike A. Myers Stadium/6 p.m. CT/SEC Network+) and Volleyball (Gregory Gym/8 p.m. CT/SEC Network+) doubleheader against Arkansas on Friday, we'll be under the lights for Football on Saturday (6:30 p.m. CT/ABC) and then close it out with Volleyball hosting Georgia at The Greg on Sunday (1 p.m. CT/SEC Network+).
Welcome back to Austin @CollegeGameDay 🤘 pic.twitter.com/2fEKnFS49n

And we've got HOOPS ON THE HORIZON, too as our Longhorns will participate in SEC Basketball media days both today and Wednesday in Birmingham. Coach Terry and our men (Tre Johnson and Kadin Shedrick) will take the stage at SEC Tipoff '25 today, followed by Coach Schaefer and our women (Madison Booker and Rori Harmon) on Wednesday. You can catch the event on SEC Network who will have coverage beginning at 10 a.m. CT each day. That will get you charged up and ready for some hoops action, as our squads get their seasons started in just a couple weeks. Can't wait to see everyone at Moody Center as we get that place rockin' once again.
Speaking of ROCKIN' AND ROLLIN,' how about Coach Elliott and No. 7 Volleyball. Our squad is kicking into gear big-time, posted back-to-back top-20 road sweeps at Florida and Kentucky over the last two weekends, is 5-0 in the SEC (with four-straight sweeps to boot!) and sending a message to the nation that the two-time defending champs are a force to be reckoned with once again. You can catch them right here at The Greg this week with Friday night's match against Arkansas (8 p.m. CT/SEC Network+) and Georgia here on Sunday (1 p.m. CT/SEC Network+) to make it Bulldog two-sport doubleheader over the weekend.

Soccer got a pair of SEC wins last week and SET A RECORD IN THE PROCESS, joining Football with a Red River Rivalry win (1-0 on Thursday) followed by a 3-1 victory at LSU on Sunday. Congrats to our superstar Lexi Missimo who broke our all-time record for goals with her ninth of the season and 53rd of her fabulous career in the win over the Tigers. They'll be back at Myers Stadium on Friday with a huge tilt against No. 6 Arkansas (6 p.m./SEC Network+). Mark your calendar to start your weekend with that one.

We've got all Longhorns all the time these days, as Softball will travel to College Station on Friday for a Fall Ball game against our rivals from Texas A&M (7 p.m. CT), while Men's and Women's Tennis, Women's Golf and Cross Country are in action, too. It's ALL GAS NO BRAKES for the Burnt Orange & White my friends, so let's do this. Get those Horns Up and Hook 'Em!

While I've got you and before we get to the notes, here's a huge shoutout to Derek Ochoa and our Football Creative Team. I know y'all love their videos, graphics, and content (I do too!) and it shows, as they just crossed 1 million followers on Instagram. Holy Cow what an awesome reflection and appreciation for their hard work and dedication. Keep being the best and spreading the word on everything great about Texas Football, my friends!
Football comes up Golden at the Allstate Red River Rivalry
Coach Sark and our lads certainly came up Golden (as in the Hat) on Saturday at the Cotton Bowl in a sensational Red River Rivalry victory, 34-3, over the Sooners. The defense had it locked down from start to finish, while the offense surged through the second quarter and beyond for yet another (and I'm sounding like a broken record) awesome display of culture and complimentary football. So what happened as a result? We got a national player of the week on both sides of the ball! HUGE shoutouts to Kelvin Banks and Anthony Hill on being named the https://texaslonghorns.com/news/2024/10/15/no-1-1-footballs-banks-named-outland-trophy-national-player-of-the-week.aspx and Walter Camp Defensive players of the week, respectively. Not only that, but they were SEC players of the week to boot! Of course, both of those fine young men would be the first to tell you those are team awards, which is the perfect example of what this team is all about and what it's accomplishing. And speaking of perfect examples, I can't go without mentioning Silas Bolden and the hustle he showed chasing down that fumble in the end zone that gave us a true momentum and a 14-3 lead. My man ran almost 50 yards to get that thing after making a block that finished WAAYY behind the play. I tell ya, this team's mentality is truly something special! We also got the return of Mr. Ewers, a fantastic breakout game from our other "Quin" Quinetrevion Wisner at running back, and our pass catchers were making scintillating plays all over the place! On defense, the turnover sword was waving, especially at the end of the second quarter, and our group was busy all day in the backfield, racking up up six sacks and 11 TFL! All-in-all it was magnificent day at the State Fair, and what better way to celebrate a win (besides of course the Golden Hat) than a victory corny dog! Way to get after that thing Coach Sark!

Volleyball is on a roll!
The Volleyball train kept on rollin' with another top-15 win on the road, this time over then-No. 12 Kentucky on Sunday afternoon. The Longhorns are now riding a seven-match winning streak, including four-straight sweeps to boot! Marianna Singletary continued her dominant defensive play in the middle and picked up her second-straight SEC Defensive Player of the Week award. Our Longhorns are now set to play FIVE-straight matches back at The Greg, and we need our fans to keep it rockin' for every single match. Texas hosts Arkansas on Friday (8 p.m. CT/SEC Network+) and then welcomes Georgia on Sunday (1 p.m. CT/SEC Network+).

Soccer earns two wins & Missimo becomes top goal scorer in UT history!
What a week on the pitch for Coach Kelly and our Soccer team, as our ladies earned two big conference victories AND six points in the SEC standings! The Longhorns got our successful weekend started the right way with a 1-0 win over Oklahoma at home on Thursday night. Texas then went on the road and improved to 11-2-2 overall (4-2-1 SEC) with an impressive 3-1 victory on Sunday afternoon in Baton Rouge. As we mentioned earlier, Lexi Missimo became our program's all-time leader in career goals with No. 53 against LSU. Lexi now has the most career goals, assists AND points by ANY player to have worn the Burnt Orange & White. Our Longhorns are back in the friendly confines of Mike A. Myers Stadium when we host No. 6 Arkansas on Friday (6 p.m. CT/SEC Network+). Gates open at 5 p.m., so be sure to make plans to arrive early. Texas is unbeaten in its last 16 matches on the Forty Acres, and you know Friday night will be another great atmosphere!

Men's and Women's Swim & Dive dominate first dual meet of the season
What a splash our Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving teams made in their season-opening dual meet at LSU last Friday. Our No. 2 women dominated in record-breaking fashion with a 184-116 win over the Tigers. Two-time NCAA Champion Emma Sticklen not only set a UT program record and the LSU Natatorium record, but she also broke the SEC record in the 200 fly in our very first dual meet against an SEC opponent. Newcomer Jillian Cox also broke a two-year 1000 free program record in her first race as a Longhorn. Our No. 3 men also claimed a 198-102 victory against LSU. Hubert Kos, Rex Maurer and Nick Harris paced our squad with two or more event wins each. Combined, the men and women's teams recorded 19 pool records on Friday in Baton Rouge. Statement made!
Women's Golf wins NB3 Matchplay
Coach Ianello and our ladies have it going as they won their second straight tournament out in New Mexico last week. In addition to claiming the women's team championship, the event allowed our ladies to play alongside our men's team and the two captured the combined university division championship as well! Sophomore Lauren Kim lit up the scorecard with 15 birdies and two eagles over her three matches. The Longhorns are back on the course on Friday through Sunday at the Stanford Intercollegiate in Stanford, Calif.

Men's Golf concludes fall season with strong showing at NB3 Matchplay

On the opening day of the tournament, the Longhorns posted a 3-2 victory over New Mexico State and a 2.5-2.5 tie against New Mexico. Texas then concluded the event the following day with an impressive 4.5-0.5 victory over No. 22 Stanford. Christiaan Maas led the team with a perfect 3-0 mark in his individual match-play contests during the tournament. Our guys and ladies earned the combined university championship with a total of 21.5 points, placing ahead of New Mexico State (14.0), Stanford (13.5) and New Mexico (11.0).
