No. 21 Soccer earns No. 3 seed for 2024 SEC Tournament

Texas to open stay in Pensacola on Tuesday, Nov. 5 against the winner of Auburn and LSU.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In its first season in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), The University of Texas women's soccer program will be the No. 3 seed for next week's 2024 SEC Soccer Tournament in Pensacola, Fla., after finishing third in the league's standings with 19 points.
As a result of being one of the tournament's top four seeds, the Longhorns, which finished the regular season with a 6-3-1 mark in conference play, earned a first-round bye and will not have to play on the tournament's opening day on Sunday, Nov. 3. This will result in Texas' first match occurring on Tuesday, Nov. 5, when UT takes the pitch against the winner of the sixth-seeded Auburn Tigers (12-2-4, 4-2-4) and 11th-seed LSU (8-7-3, 3-5-2).
During the regular season, Texas beat LSU, 3-1, in Baton Rouge, La., on Sunday, Oct 13, when Longhorn senior midfielder Lexi Missimo became the program's new leader in career goals with UT's third goal of the match during the 56th minute. Texas and Auburn did not play each other during the 2024 regular season. All matches of the 2024 SEC Soccer Tournament will be broadcasted on the SEC Network.
Texas will travel to the Sunshine State looking for its third conference championship in as many season after the Longhorns won the Big 12 Conference postseason tournament in 2023, a year after winning the league's regular season title.
Head coach Angela Kelly will be looking for her fifth SEC Soccer Tournament championship after the former Tennessee head coach led the Volunteers to the league's postseason tournament title in 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2008. Additionally, Kelly and Tennessee won the SEC regular season championship in 2004 to give the head coach five SEC championships in seven seasons in Knoxville.
